About This Waterfall
Though the USGS recognizes this feature as one of Florida's three waterfalls, the small rapids along the Chipola River hardly qualifies as such even in a state as lacking in topography as Florida. The small rapid accounts for a noticeable drop in the river of perhaps two feet at best, but during periods of heavier flow the ripples are submerged entirely and no evidence of any sort of "fall" can be discerned. While this type of feature may be unique in Florida, there is simply no justification to consider it a waterfall.
