About This Waterfall
Davis Creek and it's canyon are located between Packwood and Randle, just off of US 12, south of Mt. Rainier. Drive west from Packwood for about 10 miles, or east from Randle for about 7.5 miles to the signed Davis Creek Road. Follow Davis Creek road for a short distance to Forest Service road # 63 immediately west of the Davis Creek bridge. Follow road 63 for about 3/4 of a mile to the bridge across the gorge at Lower Davis Creek Falls. Park on either side and walk out onto the deck to look straight down into the falls.Prior to joining the broad valley of the Cowlitz River, Davis Creek drops through a narrow canyon in several moderate waterfalls. This is the final visible drop in the gorge, and the only one that is readily accessible without putting yourself in dangerous situations. The falls are located directly underneath the girder bridge on Davis Creek Road # 63, perched 150 feet above the creek. The bridge wasn't exactly constructed with pedestrians in mind, so to see the falls, you have to kind of hop up onto the railing and peer over the edge on your stomach. The view of the falls isn't the best, but the gorge is impressive. Just above the main falls and around the corner is another 20 foot drop. To see this, find a very faint path just east of the bridge and walk through the bushes for 30 feet to the edge of the gorge, where the falls can be seen. This waterfall had previously been listed as Davis Creek Falls, however, it's come to light that the 110 foot falls at the head of the gorge are the real Davis Creek Falls.
