About This Waterfall

The falls, as best I can tell, aren't visible at all from the Snow Creek Trail as it climbs towards Nada Lake and The Enchantments. Viewing parts of the falls requires short scrambles off the trail towards the creek after climbing about 1/2 mile from the trailhead.Snow Creek drains from perhaps the most epitomal landscape of Washington's Alpine Lakes Wilderness - The Enchantments. As Snow Creek nears its confluence with Icicle Creek it drops down a continually narrowing canyon. Topographic maps show the stream losing about 800 feet in roughly half a linear mile. I've explored the bottom of the formation where the creek slides down a 75 foot inclined cascade, but unfortunately proved difficult to get pictures of due to the pitch of the bedrock and the surrounding brush. It appears there may be a more vertical upper part to the falls further upstream where more exploration will need to be done. I don't believe the falls will be anywhere near 800 feet tall, but 400 to 500 feet isn't out of the question.
