About This Waterfall
This is the first of the significant waterfalls encountered along the Suiattle River Road. The falls consist of a series of horsetails and cascades in three main sections, which drops a total of around 35 feet. The small unnamed stream which the falls occur along is entirely dependent on precipitation, so the falls are limited in their impressiveness, but still retain a significant photogenic quality. We haven't observed this stream running dry, but late in the summer it certainly wouldn't be worth visiting. Unfortunately, in the past several years, the falls have become completely obscured from the road by significant growths of Alder suckers, and are almost impossible to find unless you know exactly where to look. When the trees along the road are bare, one can partially view Lower Suiattle Falls and a portion of much larger Suiattle Falls further up the hillside at the same time.Greg Plumb's Waterfall Lover's Guide books have consistently labeled this waterfall as Suiattle Falls, and until now we've followed step for the sake of consistency. After surveying the larger falls upstream, it became abundantly clear that the primary name should shift to that waterfall, so we've renamed this one to Lower Suiattle Falls in turn.
