About This Waterfall
McCauley Falls is a seasonal waterfall found along Hanstead Creek just north of the Cherry Creek valley near Duvall. The falls drop about 100 feet before tumbling down a long cascading runout to the valley floor. At one point King County had issued a permit for the whole hillside around the falls to be excavated as a quarry, which would have resulted in the falls being destroyed; nothing seems to have come of that prospect however, so it seems the falls are safe in their natural state for now. The falls occur on private land, and because of past issues with vandalism, trash dumping, and illegal parking in the area, the landowners have asked us to make it clear that while they are not closing off public access to the falls, permission must be sought ahead of time for those who wish to visit the falls to help ensure that the area be kept in the best condition possible.
