About This Waterfall
The Mistaya Canyon trailhead is located 5.5 kilometers south of Saskatchewan Crossing, along the Icefields Parkway. The trail winds down to the bridge in ½ of a kilometer.Mistaya Canyon is another fine example of the ubiquitous slot canyons of the Canadian Rockies parks, complete with a modest waterfall at its head. This canyon is different from several of the others in that it receives only a fraction of the visitors. Because of this, or maybe as a result of, this location hasn’t been developed like some of the other canyons in the parks. A single bridge spans the chasm overlooking the 40 foot falls at its head, but the gorge as it stretches downstream is not accessible.
