About This Waterfall
This is a nice seasonal waterfall dropping off the northwest flank of Mount Stephan to the flood plain of the Kicking Horse River, just outside of the town of Field. With the right lighting, the stream can be observed extending practically halfway up the side of the mountain, though the vast majority of that descent is over and under talus and lingering snow patches. The only portion considered a legitimate waterfall stands about 250 feet tall. The falls are substantially more impressive earlier in the year when more snow lingers on the flanks of the mountain. It it does appear to retain some amount of flow through July, though likely will run dry by August in most years.
