About This Waterfall
Whiskey Jack Falls is located about a kilometer from the end of the Yoho Valley road on the left side of the valley, just past the Whiskey Jack Hostel.Whiskey Jack Falls suffers from a massive case of overshadowing. Nearby Takakkaw Falls looms visibly across the valley from where Whiskey Jack Creek cascades about 200 feet down the hillside, most often drawing visitors attention away from the closer waterfall. The falls are fed by a lobe of the Emerald Glacier and flow well all year long and can easily be seen from the Yoho Valley Road where Whiskey Jack Creek crosses, but only the bottom half of the falls can be seen. The upper half is hidden by the twisting course the creek takes, though it can be partially seen from closer to the Whiskey Jack Hostel on the south side of the creek near the falls. The Yoho Lake / Yoho Pass trail may provide closer views of the falls, but bushwhacking might just as easily be necessary from that route.Whiskey Jack Falls was originally known as Bridal Veil Falls until 1970 when the name was changed to coincide with that of the creek.
