About This Waterfall

Purdue Falls is a 103 foot tall plunging waterfall found around the 4000 foot mark on Ridley Creek on the south side of Mount Baker. Access requires hiking in either via the Ridley Creek Trail or the Park Butte Trail to Mazama Park, and then hiking off trail across meadows and scrambling down into the Ridley Creek canyon. An upper falls is located a short distance upstream, but whether it should be considered a separate waterfall or not remains to be determined.Purdue Falls was discovered in 1909 by former President of Purdue University W.E. Stone, who was part of a Mazamas climbing expedition on the south side of Mount Baker. The falls were named for the university.
