About This Waterfall
Rideau Falls has been altered considerably from its natural state, both as a result of hydroelectric development, but also to prevent the falls from eroding the bedrock further and threatening the intake for the adjacent hydro power station. The cliffs at both segments of the falls have been reinforced with concrete to prevent any of the bedrock from cleaving off.
