About This Waterfall

Silver Falls are within the Entiat Valley, accessed off of Highway 97A, north of Wenatchee. Proceed north from Wenatchee along Highway 97A for 18 miles to the signed Entiat Valley Road (just south of the town of Entiat). Follow the Entiat Valley Road for 29 1/2 miles to the trailhead adjacent to Silver Falls Campground. The trail begins next to Silver Creek and loops around the falls in just under 1 ½ miles. The fastest approach to the falls is to stay right where the trail splits.Silver Falls is the most popular waterfall in the lower Entiat Valley for a reason. The falls boisterously veil about 140 feet down the side of the valley in a rather unique method - fanning out over a pitched surface before plunging over a sheer undercut at a 45 degree angle to its brink. Below the falls the creek cascades very steeply for another 100 vertical feet among jumbled boulders and mossy logs. Due to the size of the falls and the steepness of the terrain below the falls, foreshortening is unfortunately a big issue at this waterfall. When viewed from below, only the lower third of the falls can be seen, and when viewed from either side, the same restriction falls into place due to the relatively shallow gorge the creek has cut into the valley wall.Silver Falls were named for Silver Creek by A. H. Sylvester, a former supervisor for the National Forest Service in this area.
