About This Waterfall
Skeidslåfossen is a multi-tiered horsetail type waterfall found along the Nysetelvi at the head of Vikadalen in Årdal. Based on 5-meter contour topographic maps, the falls appear to drop approximately 285 meters (935 feet), with the largest individual drop falling perhaps 100 meters (330 feet). The Nysetelvi is dammed about 2.5 kilometers upstream from the waterfall, and the majority of the stream is diverted for hydroelectric generation. A small amount of water seems to still manage to reach the falls, but nowhere near the volume which the stream naturally produced.
