About This Waterfall
The falls are plainly visible from the Icefields Parkway about 100 meters south of the Nigel Creek Trailhead in Banff National Park. Scrambling down to the stream will definitely yield better and more interesting perspectives than what is afforded from roadside.Stairstep Falls is a minor waterfall along Nigel Creek about 1/2 km upstream from its much more significant siblings Panther and Nigel Falls, which is noteworthy for its ease of access and unique form. Here Nigel Creek drops over two wide, fairly uniform ledges in rapid succession then narrows into a final chute of about the same height, falling a total of about 15 feet.
