About This Waterfall

Third Canyon Creek is located 16km north of the Yellowhead Highway in Clearwater along the Clearwater Valley Road. The falls are visible upstream from the bridge over the canyon.Third Canyon is the last, largest and most visible of the Canyon Creeks which bisect the Clearwater Valley road. The creek drops over two falls upstream of the bridge, about 25 and 30 feet respectively, and then drops over two additional smaller falls immediately beneath and downstream of the bridge. Unfortunately, because of the sinuous snaking shape of the canyon, only the 30 foot fall is easy to see. The 25 foot upper tier can be barely glimpsed through the trees from the north end of the bridge, but getting a picture would be prohibitively dangerous. It may be possible to access the smaller falls in the canyon below the bridge by hiking upstream from the Clearwater River Trail, but this should only be done under good weather conditions, because Third Canyon Creek has been known to flash flood.
