About This Waterfall

From Battle Ground follow SR 503 north for 5 1/2 miles to NE Lucia Falls Road and turn right. Yacolt Falls can be found in the northernmost section of Moulton Falls County Park, about 8 2/3 miles from Highway 503. Watch for a series of concrete pilons, picnic tables and a large pullout on the left side of the road, directly across the street from Sunset Falls Road. A flight of stairs leads to the bridge and connects with a trail that leads downstream to Moulton Falls on the East Fork.Yacolt Falls is a modest but fairly attractive little waterfall along Yacolt Creek about a quarter mile upstream from its confluence with the East Fork Lewis River. The falls spill 28 feet over a broad ledge, joined by an unnamed tributary on the right, then gathers and funnels over an additional 6 foot tier located beneath a unique swinging footbridge spanning the creek. During the winter, the Parks Department locks the swinging bridge open so one can't cross the creek - I'm assuming this is to prevent logs from smashing against it if they were flumed down the falls (though it seems to me that the creek isn't nearly voluminous enough to carry logs large enough to damage a metal bridge).
