About This Waterfall
Yellow Creek Falls was an unexpected find for me. The falls occur within etrueight of the Rogue-Coquille Scenic Byway, just south of Coquille-Myrtle Grove State Park. Looking at the geology of the area, I'm not surprised at the existence of a waterfall here anymore. The South Fork Coquille River has cut a modest canyon, through a layer of sedimentary rock, which stretches between Myrtle Grove and the Siskiyou National Forest. Virtually every stream entering the South Fork drops into this canyon in some form of waterfall. Yellow Creek Falls just happens to be one of the more obvious ones.
