About This Waterfall
Bølifossen is a smaller but powerful waterfall found along the Mørkrisdalselvi. The falls tumble about 18 meters (60 feet) down a steep bedrock ramp into a large blue pool with a large natural sandy beach on one side. Mapping inaccuracies had led us to previously believe that the long series of cascades a short distance downstream where the river tumbles over and around large boulders for several hundred meters was the correct location for this waterfall. Upon further examination however, this feature is neither named, nor is it a legitimate waterfall as there is no direct influence of the underlying bedrock on the formation of these cascades, impressive as they may be.
