About This Waterfall
Bow Falls is found within the town of Banff in Banff National Park. Exit Highway 1 at Banff Avenue and proceed through town, then turn left onto Spray Avenue, then left again on Golf Course Road – following signs for the falls the whole way. The parking lot for the falls will be on the left at the bottom of the hill.Bow Falls is one of the quintessential waterfalls in Banff National Park. The falls rumble about 30 feet over a low-gradient pitch of channeled bedrock, providing a short turbulent interrupt of the cerulean waters of the Bow River. The falls are pretty, and under the right conditions, exceptionally photogenic, but not terribly impressive. During the summer, bet on the falls being overrun with tourists, so don’t expect peace and tranquility (the falls are, after all, located right in the middle of the town of Banff). Looming over the falls is Cascade Mountain, and behind the viewpoint, the luxuriant Banff Springs Hotel - an impressive building providing top notch coddling if you can afford a stay.
