About This Waterfall
Brotherhood Falls is a low volume, but surprisingly striking waterfall found just upstream from Highway 9 near Lake McMurray. The falls drop 56 feet where its unnamed stream glides smoothly down an exposure of sandstone in a very unusual (for the Northwest at least) veil shape. The small unnamed stream which feeds the falls drains a very small area, perhaps not much more than one-quarter square mile, which all but guarantees a very short lifespan for the falls. In order to see it flowing respectably, one must visit during the winter months. By late spring expect the volume of water in the creek to be considerably reduced, and likely completely dry come summer. There is a good chance this waterfall is located on private land. There are clear cuts on either side of the draw where the falls are found, and Camp Brotherhood is located throughout the basin above the falls. Though it is possible to access the falls from the highway, should you encounter any signs that public entry is not permitted, please do not continue on.This waterfall is not known to have any established name, so it's been informally named for nearby Camp Brotherhood.
