About This Waterfall
Buttermilk Falls is one of several tributary waterfalls in Kaaterskill Clove. The falls occur high up on the south wall of the Clove about half way between Palenville and Haines Falls, but can't be seen from Route 23 as it climbs up the valley. A trail passes near the top of the falls but there doesn't appear to be any easy method to view the entire series of cascades. There are said to be six major waterfalls total along John Case Brook, but whether they should be segregated into their own entries in the database or considered to be collectively part of Buttermilk Falls is not known. The uppermost falls, as marked on the topographic map, is claimed to be about 100 fee tall.
