About This Waterfall
The USGS has had Fiftyfoot Falls labeled on the Supai quadrangle for decades, however for years and years it seemed to escape good documentation despite being located very close to the extremely popular Havasu Canyon trail on the Havasupai Indian Reservation. In 2008 a massive flash flood tore down Havasu Canyon and altered several of the waterfalls on Havasu Creek. Nearby Navajo Falls was effectively destroyed, and Fiftyfoot Falls became much larger and more visible than it seems it may have been previously (accompanied by Rock Falls just downstream). The waterfall at these coordinates has historically been known as Fiftyfoot Falls or Supai Falls (more commonly the former). After the 2008 flood, the altered (or more commonly perceived as "new" waterfall) has been referred to as either New Navajo Falls or Upper Navajo Falls. To date neither the USGS or the Havasupai have adopted a new name for this waterfall, so we are continuing to use the historical name.
