About This Waterfall
Rock Falls is geologically a brand new waterfall, created by the 2008 flash flood which tore down Havasu Creek Canyon during a heavy thunderstorm. The creek eroded its channel 30-40 feet deeper than it previous was, altering nearby Fiftyfoot Falls and scouring a new 25-foot tall ledge just downstream which has since been dubbed Rock Falls. In doing so the creek was shifted away from its previous course, which caused Navajo Falls to essentially be "turned off".
