About This Waterfall
The second of the four waterfalls along the North Fork of Tumalo Creek clocks in as one of the tallest in the drainage basin, dropping 84 feet in three steps. The upper tier consists of a sluicing drop of about 5 feet, which is then followed almost immediately by the water spreading out and veiling in a curtain-style 38 foot plunge. The final tier is much more constricted as the creek exits a pool and chutes down a narrow crack along the canyon wall for another 41 feet. At this point the creek has cut a remarkably broad canyon in contrast to the narrow chasm just upstream at Upper North Fork Tumalo Falls. Downstream of this waterfall the creek flows placidly, in places sheeting over solid bedrock, over 150 feet below the canyon rim. Because the slopes of the canyon are quite crumbly few trees stand to obstruct views and the whole scene is quite scenic.
