About This Waterfall
From the town of Estacada follow SR 224 for 27 miles and turn right onto FSR 46 (Clackamas River Road). In another 3 1/2 miles turn right onto FSR 63 (Collowash Road) then in another 3 1/2 miles turn right again onto FSR 70 (Bagby Springs Road) and drive another 5 1/3 miles to the Pegleg Falls day use area. The falls are found just upstream with a trail leading shortly down to the river.Pegleg Falls is a 21 foot tall, 50-60 foot wide rolling block-type waterfall along the Hot Springs Fork of the Collowash River deep in the Mount Hood National Forest. A fish ladder has been carved into the bedrock to the river-left of the falls, which allows a substantial portion of the river to bypass the waterfall. The de-watering isn't noticeable early in the year but during the summer months the falls become substantially reduced in stature as a result of the diversion.
