About This Waterfall
South of Warren, you'll turn from Route 100 onto Stetson Hollow Road and drive the single track past a house to a T-turn. Park here and follow the trail about 8/10 of a mile. You will cross Stetson Brook twice, the first bridge is intact, the second is not. I made a dicey climb over a tightly packed pile of fallen trees adjacent to the washed out bridge. Had the water not been so swift (or cold...let's not kid ourselves...), I might have waded across a shallower spot a short ways downstream. After another few hundred feet, you'll hear the roar of the falls as a tributary drops into the other side of Stetson Brook. An unnamed stream makes a pair of leaps into Stetson Brook. The upper tier is a 38 foot horsetail leap that spreads out and falls in a fan-like formation a further 19 feet over a broad ledge of schist. The name is derived from the broad valley in which the falls are found.
