About This Waterfall
Tyee Falls is located in the Entiat Valley, accessed off of Highway 97A, north of Wenatchee. Proceed north from Wenatchee along Highway 97A for 18 miles to the signed Entiat Valley Road (just south of the town of Entiat). Follow the Entiat Valley Road for about 20 1/2 miles and look for the falls across the fields to the left.Tyee Falls is one of the most prominent waterfalls on the west side of the Entiat Valley. But because much of the valley is lined with private property, getting close to the falls is not possible. However, not all is lost in this case, because since the falls drop abut 500 feet in a long twisting cascade, most of the falls can be seen from the Entiat Valley Road. I'm not sure if the falls are spring fed or if a large patch of snow just lingers in the gully to feed the creek, but it seems that Tyee Falls flows later in the season than most other nearby streams of similar size and volume. The falls will run dry by July, however, so be sure to come around the end of May for the best show.I don't know whether this is an accepted local name or not, but this is the name that Ice Climbers have used for the falls for years, so I'll stick with it.
