About This Waterfall
Nyastølfossen is the second of four large waterfalls encountered along the Kinso as one hikes into Husedalen. Based on one-meter contour topographic maps, he falls drop a total of 172 meters (565 feet) over a linear run of approximately 375 meters (1,230 feet). The falls begin by sliding across a long, broad exposure of bedrock in pulsing sheets of water, gradually getting steeper as it tumbles down the valley. The lower part of the falls is nearly vertical, and during periods of heavier flow the river will split into two or three segments near the top of the falls, broadening to as much as 150 meters in width.
